Foundation

The Foundation of the Open Door Care Network works to raise funds that benefit Open Door Care Network and local community health initiatives. The Foundation was established in 1990 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

We invite you to find a way to become involved in the Foundation of the Open Door Care Network and help nearly 60,000 low-income community members throughout Westchester, Dutchess, Putnam and Ulster Counties access the critical health and wellness services regardless of their ability to pay. Here is how you can join us in ensuring that all members of our community receive comprehensive quality health care.

Some of our most critical services are not covered through third-party reimbursements or government grants – including Patient Advocacy, Wellness, and Integrated Behavioral Health Services.

Charitable Gifts

There are many ways in which you can make a meaningful gift in support of Open Door’s mission. Below are ways in which you can make a contribution.

Donate/Monetary

Monetary donations ensure that Open Door has the financial resources to provide our neighbors with continuous access to high-quality community-based health care services.

Sustaining Gifts

Recurring charges to your credit or debit card, at the frequency of your choice, allow you to make an impactful gift at a pace that is comfortable for you.

Simply select “recurring gift” when you donate online or tell us you’d like to make a sustaining contribution.

Tribute/Honorary

Making a tribute or gift in honor of someone is a meaningful way to celebrate their impact and legacy.  Tribute gifts create a ripple effect of goodwill and remembrance.

Charitable Bequest

A charitable bequest in your will creates a lasting legacy at Open Door.

The following is sample language that other donors have used in their wills. We recommend that you consult with your legal and financial advisors to learn how a gift would work in your circumstances.

“I give to the Open Door Foundation, a New York nonprofit corporation (EIN: 13-3598184), [all (or ____ percent) of my residuary estate] or [the sum of $_______ ] to be used for its general purposes.”

Additional planned giving options include:

  • Retirement plans such as pension funds, 401ks, 403bs, and IRAs can be donated without paying any income and estate taxes.
  • Life insurance that is no longer needed for the protection of your family or for other purposes.

Gifts of Stock

A donation of stock allows you to receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock gift along with an exemption from capital gains tax on shares that you have owned for at least one year.

Corporate/Matching

Corporate matching programs allow employees to double or even triple their charitable contributions, significantly amplifying the impact of their donations. Your company’s human resources office can provide you with additional information.

If you have any questions about Corporate Matching Gifts, please contact Tara Scarduzio, Development Manager, at tscarduzio@odfmc.org.
