Open Door is a founding member of OCTC.
Ossining Communities that Care (OCTC) brings together diverse community partners and organizations to foster well-being among Ossining’s young people and their families, with a special focus on substance use prevention and positive youth development.
The new website is the go-to resource for community members to access educational resources, support, and up-to-date information about OCTC’s programs and youth-oriented activities.
Open Door’s Community Programs Coordinator Alice Joselow serves as the current coordinator for the coalition and has spearheaded multiple youth-oriented initiatives, culminating in the recent approval of Ossining’s first-ever Youth Bureau.
OCTC’s innovative programs are supported by local and county government, law enforcement, schools, substance use prevention agencies, youth-serving organizations, faith-based and civic groups, as well as community health centers like Open Door.
Based on Communities that Care, a national coalition-based model that uses a public health approach to prevent problematic behaviors such as violence, delinquency, school dropout, and substance abuse.
Open Door secured and is currently the fiscal agent for $1.5 million in funding to the community by the US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
